Monastery of Tibães

First built on the 11th century, this Monastery with beautiful gardens is one of the most emblematic symbols of the North of Portugal and its religious history.

At VAST2008 we will be very pleased to serve the conference dinner, at the former stables of the Monastery.

Coa Valley

In the northeast of Portugal, among imposing mountains, the visitors of this region can find the Coa River, a tributary of the Douro River. The Coa Valley contains prehistoric art created over several thousands years, beginning in the Upper Paleolithic Era (which in Portugal corresponds to a period between 30000 and 10000 years ago) and continuing intermittently all the way to the 20th century AD.
