Management of Networks and Services
Contents
- Network and capacity planning. Network management principles and architectures.
- Management framework INMF/SNMP: data model, architecture and management entities, communication paradigms, management objects and related standards. Services management.
- Additional technologies: Web services, mobile management agents, management by delegation, management policies. Current best practices.
Learning outcomes
- to plan network design and resources provisioning according to specific requirements and constrains;
- to demonstrate basic knowledge on important standards and technologies;
- to identify the main network management tasks, including the use of public domain and proprietary management tools;
- to select and apply appropriate technologies for accomplishing those tasks, identifying costs and limitations in different implementation scenarios;
- to analyse and discuss the most relevant approaches inherent to management architectures and mechanisms, resulting from on-going research.
