Introduction

"Innovation and Creativity for Complex Engineering Systems" (ICCES) is a pedagogical project, coordinated by UMinho. The main objective of the ICCES intensive programme is to train Ph.D. students on how to tackle problems of high complexity in an innovative and research-oriented perspective within industrial contexts. Students, organized in multi-disciplinary teams, are expected to propose, in a 3-week time, a research plan that appropriately tackles a given problem, concerning both a scientific perspective as well as an industrial point of view.
