Welcome to the private website of the Program Committee of the FME 2001 International Symposium. In this private area - to which only members of the Symposium's organization have access - you will find all the information concerning the evaluation and selection of the papers/tutorials which will be presented in Berlin.

Review forms are self-explanatory. Please fill in the details and send them by e-mail to jno@di.uminho.pt as soon as possible (never later than October 27th).

Important: Review forms will be processed automatically (directly from the mailbox) and published in this website. Therefore:

1. Please do not change the layout of the review forms.
2. Please submit them as plain text (avoid Word/PDF/PS email attachments).

• Details about the discussion procedure:
  1. PC members should start by checking the information compiled for their papers.
  2. Electronic discussion about a paper should be confined to the reviewers of such a paper, cc'ed to the PC cochairs (please avoid fme2001pc@di.uminho.pt)
  3. Closing an electronic discussion:
     1. Discussion summary: once the discussion of a paper is over, it will help the task of the PC cochairs if one PC member involved in the discussion (eg. who triggered it) communicates the outcome by email.
        Such discussion summaries are posted in the message board for easy reference at the PC Meeting. (See for instance entries 54 or 17 in the message board).
     2. Updated ratings: these are reflected in the message board only when the discussion is over.
     3. Review Report Updating: PC members whose opinion about a paper has changed dramatically as a consequence of the discussion can choose to update their report with new ratings, extra comments to the authors, new suggestions for improvement etc. If you need to do so,
        1. please make sure that the subject of your message mentions FME2001, the number of your paper and the string revised report.
        2. the original report will be replaced by the new one;
        3. otherwise, the new ratings will be taken into account in the (physical) PC meeting but the reports will be sent to the authors unchanged, thus avoiding inconsistencies between (new) ratings and original comments.

• Message Board

  A message board is available for PC members wishing to record anything (eg. summaries of paper discussions, general comments, recommendations) about the papers they are concerned with. This information is accessible for each paper in the list of submissions.

• Data concerning paper evaluation:

  The «score-board» is recorded in the following table (click here for a simpler version, or here for a tab-delimited textual version, which you can import into eg. EXCEL), which provides a summary of paper evaluation by Nov. 10th . How to read this table:

  -

  Papers are ranked by average OVERALL RECOMMENDATION (column Eval).

  -

  Columns Ri, ORi, CLi (for i =1..3) list the numeric ratings (resp. RELEVANCE, OVERALL RECOMMENDATION and CONFIDENCE LEVEL) of the three reviewers, in arbitrary order.

  -

  Interval ratings (eg. "3 to 4") are kept in the reports but had to be converted to average values (eg. "3 to 4" to 3.5) in the table.

  -

  Columns 5 downto 0 indicate the number of each OVERALL RECOMMENDATION rating scored by each paper (Eval is the «average» of this multi-set).

  -

  Papers in which these figures spread horizontally have a bad statistic profile (lack of consensus) and are targets for discussion (see lists below). This is particularly the case in which Eval is close to 3.

• Data concerning paper reviewing:

  199 (out of 204) reports have been collected by Nov. 10th .

  -

  68 papers were refereed by Nov. 10th, 3 others were left aside (late submissions). The corresponding review reports can be fetched by clicking Review reports in each entry in the list of submissions. For papers whose authors involve PC/OC members we omit the reviewers.

  Physical PC Meeting

The PC Meeting was hosted by the Department of Informatics of the University of Minho in Braga, Portugal. Present at the meeting were John Fitzgerald, Lars-Henrik Eriksson, Peter Gorm Larsen, Nico Plat and Jose Oliveira.

32 (out of 72 submissions) were accepted - see the complete list of submissions.

An FME grant scheme (partly) covering travel costs of PC members who attended the meeting was implemented. Accommodation and trip details were provided elsewhere.
