The 2013 I Found It In The Archives! Winner

Voters chose Nacogdoches, Texas, resident Misty Hurley as the winner of this year's contest! Hurley's essay, which was submitted by the East Texas Research Center, details her study of the logbooks at the Carson-Monk Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, which, she discovered, contain much more than mere listings of individuals. Hurley's prize includes complimentary airfare to the Joint Annual Meeting in New Orleans this August. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's contest!

June 9 Is International Archives Day

October may be American Archives Month, but JUNE 9 is INTERNATIONAL ARCHIVES DAY. Thanks to sponsorship by the International Council on Archives, you can see what your colleagues from Belgium to the Baltic to Tonga are doing by clicking here (where you can also download an International Archives Day poster). And you can help spread the word about the Universal Declaration on Archives, which recognizes the essential role of archives in supporting administrative accountability and transparency, protecting the rights of individuals and organizations, and forming part of the cultural heritage of society.
