I'm Carlos Silva, a PhD student at the School of Informatics - University of Minho and a researcher at the HASLab. I have a somewhat unusual background as I got my MSc degree in Experimental Psychology, with a specialization on Psychophysics – the study of human perception.

During my MSc I started to develop an interest on Virtual Reality Environments, particularly on its development, validation, and applications. This interest pushed me towards the problematics more typically conceptualized as in the field of Informatics, as Human-machine Interaction, and usability and interface in computer generated environments.

Currently I’m finishing my PhD thesis on human perception in immersive environments. Its final goal is to come up with a method to help the development and perceptual validation of virtual and/or augmented reality environments.
