Getting to Lisbon is very easy, either travelling by plane, by car or by train.

By Plane

Lisbon International Airport (Lisbon Portela Airport) has daily flights to and from major cities in Europe and around the world.

The airport is located in the north of the city, just a few kilometers from its center, and a mere 5Km (3 miles) by car, from ECAI 2010 venue (Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon - FC/UL).

National airline is TAP Air Portugal.

Approximate flight times to Lisbon, from major world cities, are:

• from Madrid, 1 hour and 15 minutes;
• from Paris or London, 2 and a half hours;
• from New York, 7 hours;
  
• from Rio de Janeiro, 10 hours.
  

By Car

By road, Lisbon is connect by many highways.

From the north, A1 highway connects Lisbon to Oporto and A3 connects Oporto to Valença (border with Spain, Galicia).

From the south, A2 highway connects Lisbon to the Algarve region, near Faro.

From the east, A2 plus A6 highways connects Lisbon to the frontier with Spain, Extremadura, near the spanish city of Badajoz.

By Train

National and international trains arrive in Lisbon in two train sations: Santa Apolónia and Gare do Oriente.

There are overnight trains from Madrid (10 hours trip) and from Paris (more than 18 hours).

For internal connections, there are two main services: the Intercidades, connecting all major cities in Portugal, and the Alfa, a high speed train, connecting Lisbon to Oporto and Braga, to the north, and to Faro, to the south.

Both Intercidades and Alfa services are fast and highly comfortable trains.
